Mahr

What is "Mahr"? Or in Malay term it is called, Mas Kahwin.

Mahr is an obligation and a condition in Nikah. It is a gift from the husband to the wife as a symbol of their marriage. The wife has the right to request what she wants as the Mahr as it will belong to her.

Mahar is a gift given by the groom to the bride after the solemnization ceremony. It symbolizes the beginning of a husband's responsibility towards his wife in fulfilling her everyday needs. Mahar can be in cash or benefits, such as gold, silver or money. Mahar is the bride's right and she owns the Mahar. Thus, she has the will to dispose of it as she wishes.

The minimum rate for the Mahar in Singapore is $100 cash.

And this is what happened last Saturday. It was an impromptu plan. Like any other weekends, we went out to do some random shopping. He started asking questions about the promotion that he receives from Goldheart, as it is his birthday month, etc. So after we made our short trip to Queensway Shopping Mall, as Mr. Fiancee wanting to buy Jersey, we proceed to Vivo City since there is a Goldheart branch at Vivo City.

We were just glancing at the displayed jewelry. To my surprise, he said this, "Jom!"

So, we just looked at the wedding bands designs and prices. Sadly, there's an element of gold for the male rings. We thought of buying the wedding bands in making use of the Great Singapore Sale and Mr. Fiancee's additional of 50% discount!

Conclusion, he purchased one of the Mahr item for me, pendant and gold chain.

At times, Mr. Fiancee - you surprised me!

Next up, our wedding bands to be strike off from the list.
